How to I turn off email forwarding? My account was hacked but I still had access to change my password. They have set up email forwarding on the account but when I go into settings, there is no “mail” option to find where I disable this

Hi, I am Jeronimo, Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

Attackers usually create hidden rules to forward emails to their accounts.

Do this in Outlook from Edge

  1. Sign in to Outlook.com
  2. Click the gear (Settings) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Search and enter mail settings.
  4. Go to the Rules section and check if there are rules you didn't create. If there are suspicious rules (example: "resend everything to @.___" or "move everything to deleted"), delete them immediately.
  5. Also check in Forwarding and IMAP and make sure that no address is added. If there is and it is not yours, delete the forwarding.
