Hi. I went to add bullet points to text in a Hotmail email message and noticed the whole toolbar is greyed out. It's never happened before. Any idea why and, better still, how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to use bullet points when replying to a certain message. However, it's showing as greyed out or disabled.

This is because Outlook uses the message format of the original message. Therefore, the initial message of the thread where you are about to reply uses Plain Text and that format doesn't support fonts and styles.

What you can do to enable the bullet points is to "Switch to HTML"

In the message, select Reply, Reply All, or Forward.

If you’re working in the Reading Pane, select Pop Out.

Note: If you aren’t working in the Reading Pane, you don’t need to do this.

In the message window, select Options.

Select Switch to HTML, then OK.

For additional information about text formatting in Outlook, please see this official support article for your reference:

If you have clarifications, please let me know.

Regards,

Alvaro
