O365 mailbox restore - license removal

Hi,

We have a situation here. We have Hybrid Exchange set up. One user has mailbox on premise but somehow had O365 mailbox provisioned due to license provision. Now IT removed the license. and migrated the mailbox from on premise to Exchange Online. License removal deleted the old cloud mailbox which user claims to have some additional emails. Now that we have on premise mailbox migrated, is there anyway the old cloud only mailbox can be restored? Please help.

    The situation that you describe sounds like this one. If so, this old Exchange online mailbox will be permanently deleted. You could compare whether this is the situation that you described.

    If this mailbox has been permanently deleted, you will cannot restore data for this mailbox.

    You could try to check whether this mailbox is configure on any Outlook client, if this mailbox configured on one Outlook client, you cold try to export data from the configured Outlook client.
