Ho to remove orphaned Office 365 mailbox settings in exchange server hybrid

I have an issue in my exchange organization. I had previously configured exchange server hybrid with office 365. On-premises exchange server version is exchange server 2016 and migrated liam@mydomain.com mailbox to office 365 to test exchange online service

Three months ago, liam@mydomain.com account was disabled in on-premises active directory before migrating the mailbox back in exchange server.

liam@mydomain.com account in office365 admin center, under active users shows unlicensed.

I have just re-enabled the account again inside on-premises active directory and it synced to office365 using azure AD connect. When i open exchange admin center (on-premises), the mailbox type is shown as "office365". .

I need to have the mailbox hosted in exchange server database, how can i set the location for the mailbox to point to exchange server database.

    For Exchange online mailbox:

    The Exchange online mailbox data cannot be recovered now. For Exchange on-premises server, this mailbox show as Office 365 due to this mailbox has been migrated to Exchange online.

    In this case, I would suggest you delete this AD account and create a new one directly.

    See these links for info about manipulating the on-prem attribute msExchRemoteRecipientType:

    The Exchange Admin Center and PowerShell typically take care of setting such attributes properly on the AD user. So, in general it's not advised to set them directly, but in cases where the state is improper, you may need to fixup some of them manually. Best bet is to compare the account you want to change with a known good account and use the Attributes tab in AD Users & Computers to see the differences. Proceed with caution when making edits, because changes will sync to Office 365 next time AD Connect runs.

    If you don't want it to be a cloud-hosted mailbox, might need to Clear the attribute.
