Hi,

I´m trying to find a solution to properly configure DNS resolution on a secondary remote office.
I have 2 offices, the main one is where right now we have a couple of DC´s, then we have a the second most important office where we have some important services running (there is no any DC configure there), we need to configure DNS resolution in order that services running on the secondary remote office work properly and avoid going to main office for DNS resolution.

What options do I have?

Looking up information, I have a couple of options:

  • Configure an additional Active Directory site, add a new DC, and configure "Try next closest site GPO."
  • Create a DNS policy based on client IP Address (not sure, if this actually will work).

Are these options valid for what I need? Is there any additional option?

Since I´m not a DNS expert, moving the secondary DC to the remote office, on windows clients (remote office) configuring the secondary DC as preferred DNS could work?

Thank you in advance.

I'd either move one of the existing domain controllers to the other office or simply stand up a new domain controller at second office.
