How to reuse my old windows server key

I have a server that I had to reinstall the windows server OS for a virus but I install the windows server 2016 stantard evaluation version, now I cant use my old key how can I make to work.

    Assuming a retail product key you can convert it (as long as it isn't a domain controller) 

    Dism /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx /AcceptEula

    Was that a key for Windows Server version 2016 or for a different version? Keys are version-bound.
