Can Merge Replication is possible Between Azure Iaas SQL VM to On- Prem SQL VM ?

Please let me know how to setup merge replication between Azure Iaas to on -prem VM .
We tried it, but it failing when creating the Subscription part.

Parameter 2 is incorrect for this DBCC statement.
Supply either @credential_id or @credential_name.
Changed database context to 'reservesT'.
Warning: The merge agent job has been implicitly created and will run under the SQL Server Agent Service Account. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

    I am wondering If you are referring to a specific issue with your SQL VM server or if you are referring to Azure Site Recovery replication procedure.

    Also, from what I understood about your case scenario description was to keep an identical replica data between azure and on-premises environment but please feel free to correct me on this one.

    Yes I am looking for solving existing issue..

    Our scenario is we need to have merge replica between a Azure Iaas VM and On-prem Iaas SQL.

    Presently we have merge replication between 3 different location on- Prem SQL VM. Now we migrated one central US SQL On -prem VM to Azure VM.

    Remaining 2 location On-Prem are not planned for migration to Azure this year.

    So we like to know whether it possible to setup merge replica between a Azure Iaas VM and On-prem Iaas SQL?

    Please let us know , What are the options available to setup this?

    Many thanks for sharing that great info.

    It is possible to do that with just re-protecting the VM stated from on-premises... Moreover, I am wondering if you are using the Classic ASR or the Preview feature for ASR at this moment.
