Hello Team,

Our External client provided .pst file in our azure storage for exchange 2010 Mailboxes and one of my team member Copied over contents of PST to a newly created folder in user's mailbox called 'Exchange 2010 Emails;.

after adding domain name and changing dns record to o365, how mailboxes will receive emails.

Points to note:1.) we imported the way of PST(we imported pst data not users mailbox) and i guess active users still on onpremises or not?
2.) changing dns record can stop receiving new emails?

Do we need to create smtp aliases in O365 after domain move?

Please note: External client cannot provide us any permission to exchange server due to client policy(Not possible for staged/cutover/hybrid).

    Hi @Saurabh Singh

Import and export PST file of the mailboxes will not affect the current status of the mailbox.

After you finish adding domain to O365, the MX record for your domain is updated to point to Microsoft 365 and all email for your domain will start coming to Microsoft 365. And yes, you need to add the smtp alias in O365.
