I've been using Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials as a file server and to perform backups of the various desktops and laptops I have at home. I have used the Windows Server Essentials Connector without issues on my clients (now all on Windows 10) to allow scheduled, nightly backups to the server.
I just upgraded one of my PCs to Windows 11. The Essentials Connector installed without issues - normal dialog in connecting to the server and enabling backup to wake the client PC for backup. Also, the Essentials Dashboard launches and runs fine on the client allowing access to the Windows Server. The thing that isn't working is the server being able to connect to the PC - I keep getting PC not available or not connected to network error message. The client is connected to network and accesses the server (server files/folders, Essentials Dashboard). The server even identified the Windows 11 client needed an update installed.
Any attempts to actually use the server to backup the Windows 11 PC client fails with the errors mentioned.
I done numerous searches and not found anything relating to Windows 11 clients being backed up via Windows Server 2012, or later versions. Is Windows 11 supported as a client for Windows Server??
I asked on the Windows 11 board and was directed here...Thanks in advance for any insights!!
