How do you add a searchable box on modern Sharepoint?

Hello - I am new to SP and trying to create a searchable box for an intranet site as the modern sites don't have one to search everything. Our company is looking for a way to pull up not just names of documents, but also webpages and the word being searched itself no matter where it might be found. Is this something that can be done OOTB, or does this require JSON? I am also very new to GitHub if so, and would appreciate any help.

    Hi @Jolyn Johnson

Welcome to the MS Q&A forums.

Classic SharePoint provided the ability to add a search engine and had a specific web-part for it. Out of the Box, Modern SharePoint doesn't provide this facility.

There is a community framework called SharePoint PnP that does contain some Modern Search web parts. I've pasted the link below for various search scenarios but there is a wider set of documentation around PnP Modern Search V4.0

    Cheers
    Steve

Thanks for pointing me to GitHub, as others have done. Hopefully I will be able to figure it out, as I am not an admin!
