Cost duplicated applied in Application Gateway outbound data and Bandwidth network?

Hi Experts.

File is in Azure Blob. and this file will be providing to outside users.
Azure Application Gateway using for URI rewrite.

wondering if the cost will be duplicated with Azure Network bandwidth?
Application Gateway outbound data transfer only?
or + Network bandwidth cost?

I understand that you would like to know if data charges apply for traffic between end users and Azure Blob via App gateway.

There will be two data flows here.

One from end user to and fro App gateway

And one from App gateway to and fro Storge Account (Azure Blob).

Now, for any traffic going out of Azure data center, yes, there will be egress charges applied.
In your case, I would not call the traffic flow as "duplicate" as traffic is going in each flow, only once.

When a user downloads this file,

Traffic flows from Azure storage to App gateway - First flow

Then from App gateway to end user - Second flow

And hence, standard data egress charges apply in each of the above case.

For Storage account, the egress charges would depend upon the storage tier and redundancy method opted

Thanks for the update.

To address your queries,

1 First flow will happen within Azure Datacenter (Azure Blob to App Gateway), then it will not cost to customer, isn't it? because it's not outbound to the outside of Azure DC.

We will not have the visibility of whether or not the app gateway instances and Storage are in same Data center

In case they are in different regions, then traffic would go out of the Azure Data Center.

Even in case they are in same region, there is a good chance that they are in different Data centers within that region.

2- If each egress costed, then customer should pay for App Gateway Egress cost + Storage egress cost. Is that right?

adding more information.

Data is in Azure blob , and AGW in the Same Azure region.
End customer is access from outside of Azure DC.

End customer access to the URL for download the file which is in Azure blob.
but URL should be fixed with certain address , so blob address is wrapping with AGW re-write function. so Azure blob address changed to customer's public URL such as http://abccompany.com/file/download.csv

in this case, if AGW egress = $100 and Network bandwidth egress = $100.
then, when user download the file, how much egress cost applied?
is it $200 costed?
please help for th
e explain.

Hi @yabet choi ,

This would be an oversimplification of things.
I am not sure how the URL rewrite is relevant to the context.

However, if egress from storage account to App gateway is "x", and egress from App gateway is "y", then the total egress charges would be "x+y"
