Hi @John Chambers ,
Note in advance: Since your case is tagged with a sharepoint server, and we use Microsoft SharePoint to build a modern experience for Look Book, the discussion is based on SharePoint Online.
- Changing the custom page layout of a site requires administrator permission.
- Can i modify the playground to receive the current content we have in place to see how it looks in the new layout?
Are you wondering about the modified template preview? This must be deployed first.
For specific deployment, you can refer to this post: How to deploy a lookbook on a SharePoint Online Site Collection (And not the tenant) using PowerShell?
- Custom layouts require a lot of development work. The SharePoint look book is developed and hosted by Microsoft, and we can choose to download it on GitHub. You can view the source code in the GitHub repository.
- Has anyone done a migration from a playground to a live site?
What do you mean by playground here? Do you want to apply something from template to the site? If I misunderstood you, can you explain this in some detail. Generally speaking, for custom fragments, get the part of the code you want, add custom extensions using SPFx in the modern experience, and customize the master page in the classic experience, however, this is not a good practice,Microsoft will not provide support for this.
If all your questions focus on modifying the existing template of Look Book, then we do not recommend this, because this is already a template for everyone to use after extensive development and hosting by Microsoft.
