It was mentioned that we need to delete the older version MP 1.8.0.1(Microsoft.SystemCenter.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’) and import the new version MP(‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’)

But in 1.8.0.1 media download we dont have ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’

Guide says after version upgraded to 1.8.0.2 ,then we have to upgrade to 1.8.0.5 by running the windows installer and to import the latest MPs.

I tried running 1.8.0.5 installer but its failing.seems i need to delete the old installation and then try the current one.

Need help on this who has already performed this.

Regards,
Ravi shankar

    Hi @shankar431 ,

The Azure management pack guide gives you a step-by-step on how to upgrade your Azure management pack:

To upgrade to Azure MP with latest version (1.8.0.5), below steps should be followed.

    • Install the Latest MSI from the DLC and import the Azure MP to the SCOM console.
    • To import newer version of MP in Operations Manager, go to Administration-> Installed Management packs-> select “Import Management Packs” in Tasks pane-> select ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.mpb-> click on import.
    • Once new MP imported, run “Obtain Service Types and Performance Counters Data” task from Monitoring Pane > Task Status > Microsoft Azure Subscription Tasks.
      38660-obtain-service-types-and-performance-counters-data.png
    • Perform ‘Refresh data’ in Azure MP template. Since namespace data was not collected in previous template, this helps to collect it.
    • For the UI changes to be reflected, edit template data, and save it.
    • Since the name is changed for H5 dashboard MP, we need to delete older version and then import 1.8.0.5 version if customer is using 1.8.0.2 version.
    • To delete older MP in Operations Manager, go to Administration-> Installed Management packs-> search for ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’-> right click-> select ‘delete’
    • To import newer version of MP in Operations Manager, go to Administration-> Installed Management packs-> select “Import Management Packs” in Tasks pane-> select ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’-> click on import.

As far as I know the Azure management pack version 1.8.0.2 will offer the Microsoft.SystemCenter.HtmlCustomDashboard, you could try upgrading to version 1.8.0.2 first, and then from there upgrade to version 1.8.0.5.

    Hi Leon,

Thank you for providing us update.

    We didn't find the 1.8.0.2 Media download(MSI)
Can you please provide the link for MSI download 1.8.0.2.

We found the below link where I can download only mps for 1.8.0.2 but MSI file ws not there.
    https://systemcenter.wiki/?GetCategory=Microsoft+Azure
can we go-ahead and import only the mps which are provided in1.8.0.2.

    Regards,
    Ravi shankar

    Hi Leon,
As per the Azure 1.8.0.5 MP guide ,first we need to upgrade 1.8.0.1 version to 1.8.0.2 and then to 1.8.0.5
As per my understanding this upgrade is mainly for web console enhancement. That too it will work with SCOM 2019 UR1 and higher versions.
That too in my environment as of now we are not monitoring any Azure devices/servers using this Management pack.
So i don't have Azure MP template created yet in my environment.so can i skip Referesh data related steps.

    1) In 1.8.0.1 we are not having ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.HtmlCustomDashboard.mp’ at all.

2)we are not able to find the MSI file for 1.8.0.2,but in one link we found only one MP file(Microsoft.system.center.MicrosoftAzure 1.8.0.2) and downloaded other dependent MP’s manually and imported.
Also for 1.8.0.2 we didn’t find the ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.HtmlCustomDashboard’ and ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.SLA’MP’s
So i feel upgrading 1.8.0.1 to 1.8.0.2 is not possible completely as mentioned in the guide. (We are able to upgrade Microsoft Azure MP only)
3)In 1.8.0.5 we have the below MPs available .
We are able to import the below two highlighted MP’s only.
As mentioned in the guide, ‘Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzureHtmlcustomDashboard ‘(H5 Dashboard Views for Azure in web console) will not works with SCOM 2012 R2,It requires at least SCOM 2019 UR1 .

So can we directly upgrade from 1.8.0.1 to 1.8.0.5 for the basic monitoring view in operations console .Please share your insights on this and in what way i can go with this upgrade.
