We are running SP2016 and would like to add OOS to our farm. Not sure what kind of license required.

According to this blog:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2017/04/18/office-online-server-april-2017-release/

Customers that require document creation and edit and save functionality in OOS need to have an on-premises Office Suite license with Software Assurance or an Office 365 ProPlus subscription.

We have no SA. There is no Office 365 ProPlus on the market right now. May I know which M365 plan, or any other Microsoft product, cover the usage of Office Online Server?

    Hi @Mark Lui

Office online server is not included in any office365 subscription, you need to purchase it separately.

you can download it via the Volume Licensing Service Center. Alternatively, you can purchase an MSDN subscription. Various levels of MSDN sub provide access to Server software.

Office Online Server can be downloaded from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).

For more information about subscription, you can contact their Support Center.

If you need it for production purposes. you need to either as noted, purchase Office perpetual client with Software Assurance or get any M365 plan that includes Office client.

Microsoft 365 Business Standard should do the trick.
