I have a single WSUS setup, GPO is set to download and notify to install and "Allow Automatic Updates Immediate Installation". I have Defender policy set to Define the order of sources for downloading security intelligence updates enabled and set to InternalDefinitionUpdateServer and Defender is not installing definition updates without user clicking install. how do i get defender to install definitions automatically? Servers are 2016 and 2019 I am trying to get this working on

    Hello JasonL-3835,

Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

Here is all my understanding of this case. To avoid misunderstanding, please help to confirm:

We want to install the security intelligence updates from WSUS but we have to click the install option manually. You have applied the following policies to the clients:

    [Configure Automatic Updates] - 3

    [Allow Automatic Updates immediate installation]

[Define the order of sources for downloading definition updates]

    Is it right?

    Regards,
    Rita

    Hi JasonL-3835,

    Thanks for your response.

Could we try to change the Configure Automatic Updates option from 3(Auto download and notify for install) to 4(Auto download and schedule the install) to see whether this issue will be resolved or not?

In addition, if you have ticked the install during automatic maintenance option, please consider unchecking this option.
