pci serial port requires further installation windows 10 pro

Question

Everything was going fine. I burnt a DVD and then a hour and a half later. I tried to burn another DVD and it would not work. So I went in to the device manager and under other devices. It was showing PCI serial port and it says device deleted. Requires further installation. Device install requested. Device configured (null). Details status 01802400. DN_HAS_PROBLEM. problem code value 0000001C. Code 28. I have no idea what happened because I never deleted anything and I do not totally understand all of this computer stuff or how to fix it. I am running a T-520 Think pad with windows 10 pro. It's an older Think pad. It's about 11 years old.

I'd check the ROM bios, firmware, chipset and driver support packs are up to date.

The chipset allows the operating system to find and use devices integrated into the mother board.

Hi,

I suppose your PCI Serial Port Properties looks like the one in PCI serial port drivers couldn't install. As DSPatrick suggests, the best solution now is to update your drivers.

You can right click PCI Serial Port and choose Update driver. When you are asked how do you want to search for drivers, choose Search automatically for drivers. Please make sure you have a network connection.

If it doesn’t help, right click PCI Serial Port and uninstall it. After it’s uninstalled, right click at Other devices and choose Scan for hardware changes. If it still doesn’t help, please let me know and I’d like to find a solution for you.

Regarding why first DVD was burnt successfully but second one failed even you had done nothing, if the problem still exists after updating of drivers, we could try to find out why. If the problem doesn’t reappear, it’s hard to find solution for a one-time issue because we couldn’t analyze root cause without logs.
