I see a 13 MB unallocated disk space in Disk management but when I try to merge the space with D drive I see the Extend volume option is greyed out. I have seen some third party applications which can be used to merge the unallocated space but is it safe to use them? Btw, my laptop has a SSD, no HDD.

Yes, I used for example on my HD : MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.3
to extend a partition with an unallocated disk space (I just had to reboot because the disk was in use and it extended it correctly on reboot)
