Cannot uninstall WebView silently

Hello everyone!

I have installed the WebView that I got from here . I use this command line to install it silently MicrosoftEdgeWebView2RuntimeInstallerX64.exe /silent /install But now I need to uninstall it silently, using the command line.

So far I'm able to uninstall it with this .\setup.exe --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging
Already I tried with --silent, --quiet, --q, --passive, but nothing works. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance!

This is the UninstallString, from there i got the line for uninstallation:

There seems to be a snake in the grass with this app.. it was reported as a security risk a few months ago, a domain user had her account repeatedly locked without a trace anywhere.. we eventually found webview2 installed around the same time as her problem started... googled and got a page that gave removal instrucitons but when you click it.. microsoft redirected it to an update page.. "some sweeping?"... then today we had more reports of strange SSH connections on the network made from a device.. and webview is the most recently installed.. Now when I look for the same update page.. I get a huge serious looking privacy indemnity page defaulted to webview2... Ummm... "more sweeping"... I think I need a domain policy based removal if I can,... I think this atomic spying is not safe even if it's microsoft.

You can use the steps below to uninstall WebView2 silently:

Navigate to the folder where WebView2 setup.exe exists using the command below: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\90.0.818.56\Installer

Uninstall WebView2 silently using the command below, the key word is --force-uninstall: setup.exe --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

To anyone researching and finding this answer, understand that that copying and pasting may not work as your version may be different.

For example, mine was not 90.0.818.56, it was 110.0.1587.69

If copying and pasting doesn't work, simply try following the path in file explorer, find your version and replace the number in the command and it should work

Hi all,

There has been an update on webview2 that is version 111.0.1661.54 . The above procedure no longer works. What procedure can be used to uninstall it? I would like to install an older version on webview to allow an app install.

the correct file path is at least for my system ;)
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\97.0.1072.76\Installer

im sure u can manage the rest
