Windows 10/Office 365/Excel Graphs slow loading

I have a small data set running off of a pivot table using a slicer. There are only two sets of data in the table. I have two graphs, one a line and the other a bar graph. The line graph updates quickly and correctly when switching between the two data sets using the slicer. However, the bar chart is a) slow and b) showing both sets of data before the old data set is removed and the new one cleanly displayed. I do not have this issue when the slicer, pivot table and graphs are all on the same sheet. This issue shows up once I copy the slicer and bar chart to the report sheet in the same workbook. I have done the following:

  1. Tested this in multiple workbooks with the same results.
  2. Run in SAFE mode, no issues works fine
  3. Removed ALL add ins, still bad graph issue.
  4. Verified all updates are correct and installed.
  5. Repaired Excel through the recommended steps.
  6. Saved workbook as .xslb
  7. I have no macros

I have been hammering away at this for some time this weekend and would really like a resolution so I can move on with the dashboard development.

Thanks

    Hi @William Adkins ,

Which version of Windows operating system are you running?
According to your description, I tested it on two computers both with Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0.14026.20202) 64-bit(the latest version of Office currently) installed. The difference between them is the Windows operating system version.
And I reproduced this issue on Version 20H2(OS Build 19042.804). However, it worked fine on Version 1909(OS Build 18363.1500).

Please try the following to check whether they are helpful.

    1. Please navigate to C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART, if there are folders/files in it, please backup and move them to another location to have a check.
    2. Save and close all Excel files, open Excel, go to File>Options>Advanced to check Disable hardware graphics acceleration and Ignore other application that use DDE to see if this helps.

Per my test, it is strangely that the bar chart seems to need a little buffer time to update the data when there are a line and bar chart, but when I inserted a new Column chart (my workbook had three charts at this time), this issue was resolved
Besides, it worked fine after changing Bar chart to 3-D Bar chart.

Hope the information could be helpful to you.

I do have 20H2 (OS Build 19042.928). I could not find the AppData directory it came up with 'not found'. I run with the 'Graphics Acceleration' turned off. The switching to 3d bar charts worked, however management does not like that layout.
I have a example of a very complex financial dashboard from a webinar and all of the many bar charts work fine. Until the 3d charts worked I thought it was the way the pivot table data was set up, see below:

    Key Value
Date Column one data Column Two data
Date Column one data Column Two data
Date Column one data Column Two data
    Key Value
Date Column one data Column Two data
Date Column one data Column Two data
There is no dat aggregation just value lists under each grouping Key Value. Still it should not behave this way especially when the complex sample works fine.
