Endpoint DLP is not available on Tenant

Hi All,

when I tried to create an endpoint DLP policy on devices, I am not yet able to see the Devices on my configuration in M365. I didn't onboard any of my devices yet. so I was wondering, what is the reason that I couldn't see devices under the location settings. here I have M365 E5 license with me,

is it going to show once I have onboarded the devices?

@Vasil Michev when it comes to onboard, I have to onboard Windows Defender for Endpoint right. So in this case if I want to configure DLP policy for endpoints, Do I need a Defender for Endpoint license? Here currently I am having M365 E5 license.

@Maarten Leyman Not Yet for me.

Looks like I am using a free tenant and there is no license for Endpoint DLP. if you have Endpoint DLP license, I believe you need to enable at least one license to see that option for us.

I am not convinced that onboarding a device will cause this "Devices" to light up, i have used Microsoft demo tenants with this feature available in the DLP policy, with 0 devices. Ok the DLP policy would have no impact but it proves that its not related to show this option. On a dev tenant added in a 3 month trial of microsoft defender for endpoint p2 trial, but again this had no impact. Maybe issue is because its a dev tenant. Would be good to get a definitive answer on this one, thanks

Devices onboarded, MDE p2 trials added, dev tenant, no Devices option available...

anonymous user What is your current licensing for DLP? I believe, the option doesn't show unless we don't have DLP Endpoint licenses. as far as I could remember, My issue was that I have tried with Office 365 DLP and had to add Endpoint DLP licenses.

@Pratik Shetty I believe that is the issue. the developer edition of Microsoft 365 E5 doesn't have DLP Endpoint license included. additionally this developer edition doesn't have Defender for Endpoint licenses included as well.

Double check whether you have Endpoint DLP license. Office 365 DLP and Endpoint DLP are two different licenses.

You should have one of product with Endpoint DLP. I don't think you current licenses are having it. M365 E5 developer edition is not included Endpoint DLP as far as I know. again, Defender for Endpoint plan 2 for EDR and XDR.
