Hi all,

Following latest MS patch Tuesday about "print nightmare", we are working to get all of our Windows 10 up tu date for them to be able to get the needed patch.

So I wish to know which upgrade paths are possible.

We want to upgrade our Windows 10 OEM older than 21H1 to 21H1 using Windows 10 21H1 ISO downloaded via Media Creation Tool 21H1.

Will this path work ?
Thank you.

Regards,

If a device is updating from Windows 10, version 1909 or an earlier version, this feature update enablement package cannot be manually installed. Instead, it is bundled and automatically included with the feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1.

    Thank you for your answer.

So if I understand, updating from Windows 10 2004 or 20H2 to 21H1 can be done with enablement package, but updating from earlier version cannot be done with enablement package.

In this case in particular (versions older than 2004), can I update to 21H1 via Windows 21H1 ISO media ?

    Hi FXE,

    Thank you for your question.

Updating via the media creation tool is always welcome, but it is only recommended in cases of extreme Windows Update error.

You can try a different path, which is by installing the update that fixes the printing issues using the instructions at the link below:

    Hi all,

Finally we have validated 2 processes in our domain :

    • For Windows 10 1909 and earlier, we use Windows 21H1 ISO as enablement package won't work
    • For Windows 10 2004 and 20H2, we use WSUS for deploying 20H2 and 21H1 enablement packages depending of versions to update

Another question about enablement package : currently there are enablement packages for updating from 2004 to 20H2 and from 20H2 to 21H1. Will be there enablement package for updating from 21H1 to 21H2 ?

    Thank you.
    Regards,

    Hi all,

Another question from my support team.
It appears this enablement package works with Windows 10 from version 1903 .

But, on this article Microsoft talks about 2004 and newer althought the Windows version pointed in WSUS is 1903 and newer...

    Where is the truth ?
