SCCM OS Deployement using Switch DHCP & Static IP

We are going to deploy OS using SCCM.
Need few details, Kindly help....

1. In case if there is no Microsoft DHCP running, what are the Configuration on Switch Level that should boot devices from PXE. Need complete configuration or at-least that i should guide Network team.
2. What if there is no DHCP in Switch working and Static IP are used for Client ,In this case is there any possibilities to deploy OS using PXE or directory using software center.

1. Do you have any DHCP service or not? It doesn't matter is it Windows Server or router which provides IPs for clients. It matters that routing and DNS are set correctly and you talk to your Active Directory. To be able to PXE boot, you need IP helper which is a part of router config. You tell IPhelper you PXE server and that's it.
2. Without DHCP service, with static IPs, you can use Boot Image (USB stick) and when it launches, you can set static IPs. It might/should work and bring that IPconfig to the native OS. But this is a headache. Never used that, I never saw OSD installation room without DHCP.

Hi,

Intel PXE specification defines the method of network booting, which requires DHCP and TFTP servers.

ConfigMgr utilizes WDS role (installed in the Distribution Point) to act as the TFTP server (for boot file, PE, etc. transmition) and content server (for OS image transmition, via HTTP or HTTPS).

For DHCP server, ConfigMgr doesn't care about if there is a Microsfot DHCP sever or not. If an equivalent is available, that will do. If the network device (switch/router/firewall) acts as the DHCP server, no difference for the netowrk booting.

For netowrk booting, the boot process is initiated by the PXE program preloaded in the network apapter, at this time, no OS existing, and there is no way to set a static IP address. For the sencond question, the answer is: No. However, if we are doing IPU (In Place Upgrade) for an existing OS, we can launch the upgrade task from Software Center.

Thanks..what are the Switch Side configuration to tell client to use Switch DHCP and Switch DHCP Configuration for WDS/SCCM Server, Like we do in Microsoft DHCP.

and if its used Static IP, PXE is not possible, can you share the reference link from Microsoft about this statement.
