I have a Server running 2012 R2 and it is in a work group. my Network runs off a Azure AD through O365, but i have this server set up to be a file share. When i try to access the shares from my computers i get a logon error. I can remote into my server but if i attempt to access the sever or map to the shares i get a error when i try to log into them.

    Hi,

Please help to provide below information.

    1. What error message did you encounter? Could you please share the details?
    2. Can you check the file share permission? How did you configure under "Sharing" and "Security" tabs?

And you can first try below actions to see if it helps.

    1. If you use a client in the same subnet of the server to access, will it succeed?
    2. If you turn off the firewall, will the access be successful?

    Thanks,
    Eleven

I have enclosed the Error i get when i try to access the server to find the share folders and the Share settings. The Share folders do not even appear in order for me to access. It also will not let me Map to them.

The clients and server are on the same network. I am unable to turn off the firewall due to the layout of my network. 18045-share.jpg

    Hi,

May I know if you will get the same error message as attached above when inputting \host name and \IP address to connect the problematic file share server?

If so, please check the problematic SMB server and client configuration, and compare them with server and client that work well.

    Get-SmbClientConfiguration

Also, you could check some event logs to see if there is any clue to figure out the issue cause.
