Problems installing Office 2021 Professional (windows 11) on new Laptop

After deleting the Office (365) version, (pre-installed on a new laptop), I had great difficulty downloading the new 2021 Office Professional. As things stand, it would appear that Excel, PowerPoint and Word have been downloaded as Home and Student 2019 versions (as stated using the Account function within these opened Applications) and the Outlook 2021, Access 2021 and Publisher 2021 appear to be the correct Professional applications (as stated using the Account function within these opened Applications)

This is the information that Is displayed via the new laptop's account profile:
DESKTOP-OU2BB06

Name DESKTOP-OU2BB06

OS Edition Windows 11 Home
OS Build 10.0.22000.318
System type: Dell Inspiron 15 5518
RAM 16 GB
Serial number 93M0LG3
Products you've purchased:- Office Home & Student 2019 Added to your account on 1 August 2020

However, the Office Home & Student 2019 mentioned has never been installed on the new device and presumably refers to my old laptop details:

Don-VAIO VPCEH2N1E

Name Don-VAIO

OS Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 2009
OS Build 10.0.19044.1466
System type: Sony Vaio VPCEH2N1E
RAM 4 GB
Serial number 27549827-5006126
Products you've purchased:- Office Home & Student 2019 Added to your account on 1 August 2020

Office Home & Student 2019 has never been, or has never tried to be installed on this new laptop.

Please can you help solve the problem and thank you in advance.

Don

    Hi @Don Brandon

    Welcome to Q&A forum ~

According to your description, I want to know that is the Microsoft account bound to the Office 2019 license the same as that of Office 2021?

If you have Office on your computer now, I suggest you run the following command to check the activation information.
Search CMD, right-click the Command Prompt and run as administrator. Then copy and paste the command below in it, click Enter at last:
    cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus
(If you are running 32-bit Office on a 64-bit operating system)
    cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

After getting the results, it's recommended to copy the results and paste here, or share a screenshot here, then I will check if there is any product information for Office 2019.
    Thanks for your understanding.

    Greetings Emilyhua-msft,

Thank you again for your thoughts.

As things stand, it would appear that Excel, PowerPoint and Word have been downloaded as Home and Student 2019 versions (as stated using the Account function within these opened Applications) and the Outlook 2021, Access 2021 and Publisher 2021 appear to be the correct Professional applications

I am afraid I do not know how to discover how an account is bound to which Office version. Sorry.

I found the Account association by going to the "Account" option on the Home screen in each application. I have attached an example screen shot from each of the above categories.

I was concerned that by following the "Update" or "Change License" links it would affect the Apps that appear to be correctly assigned. I did not want to lose the latest installs

I installed Office 2021 by following the links provided by Elite Enterprise Software retailer (via Amazon).

Sorry to be so illiterate and I thank you very much again for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Don.

    Hello emilyhua-msft,

Once again, thank you very much for your continuing assistance. I also very much appreciate lining out my eMail account details on the print screen image. I had realised when I logged off that I didn’t do what other forum members had advised participants to do during their communications. I will have to put it down to my naivety.

I activated Office 2021 Professional via a 25 digit code supplied by the software provider linked through Amazon. I did this, as per the seller’s instructions, through their website interface - assuming that this would be linked through Microsoft. As I have previously explained, Access, Publisher and Outlook were downloaded as the expected 2021 versions, the remainder as 2019. I do not remember signing into my account during this process. The pre-installed 365 had been deleted prior to 2021 download and at no time has 2019 been on the new machine.

    Name
    DESKTOP-OU2BB06
    OS Edition
    Windows 11 Home Version 2009
    OS Build 10.0.22000.318
    System type Inspiron 15 5518
    RAM 16 GB

Unfortunately, the only product that I have purchased appears to be:-

    Products you've purchased:-
    Office Home & Student 2019
Added to your account on 1 August 2020

The same as my old laptop!

    I have no Subscriptions

I don't understand why I can use a downloaded Office App and it not be registered on my account but is identifiable within the account section of an opened document.

Once again, thank you and I will look forward to your response with relish.

    Don.

    Hello Emilyhua-msft

Once again thank you for your perseverance.

I tried following all your suggestions in sequence but came up with unwelcome results.

    1) I have no Windows credentials listed at all

    2) I tried changing the license key but the screen disappeared directly after entry without effect.

    3) When click "About Word" the information refers only to Office 2021!

    4) Says Office Updates are ready to be installed but WILL 2019 BE INSTALLED AND WHAT IF?? do I lose 2021?

    5) I am concerned about attempting an Online Repair for the same reasons.

Sorry to be concerned, but I have no wish to throw good money away on a repair that might invalidate my purchase.

I will understand if you rest your case.......

I much appreciate the time and effort that you have afforded me,

    Thank you again,

    Don.

    To emilyhua-msft & @Joost Verhoog

I thank you both very much for your valuable help and comments

Regarding your latest suggestion, emilyhua-msft, of changing the Registry files - I attempted to do as you described but found that when I arrived at the "Common" folder, there were NO Identity or Identities folders. I then followed the Uninstall/reinstall route (using the 2021 key) and now find that I apparently have the full Professional Office suite installed. It allowed me to update and seems to work fine. Strangely though, my Microsoft account still shows 2019 on both laptops!

Thanks to your comments, JoostVerhoog-4503, I have now been enlightened about the various options available when purchasing software and licenses. I am afraid that since I started venturing into the world of computing, (in the days when you simply went to a store and bought a floppy disc or CD with license attached) I now realise things have moved on somewhat. Thanks to you, I now realise that when it is time to upgrade or even if this version of 2021 continues to cause issues, I will purchase directly from the main man. I certainly do not wish to take unknowing advantages in circumstances like this.

So, I thank you once again for your considerable efforts and time in helping me with this frustration. It is also reassuring to know that the patrons of the Microsoft Support fraternity have such helpful and knowledgeable experts to call upon.

    Be of good cheer,

    Don.
