No option for Android Pattern Unlock in MS Intune

Hi all,

We are setting up Android device enrollment with Intune and we've noticed that there is no option to allow for "Pattern Unlock" to be accepted as a valid password. Pattern unlock has been a feature in Android for nearly 10 years (it's even on Pixel phones running "stock" Android), so I don't see how this setting has been overlooked. We have many Android devices in our environment and I think as enrollment scales up this is going to become a major problem with users not being able to use the feature.

In my research I see a few threads asking for pattern unlock on Android from as far back as 2017 but without any involvement or info about it from Microsoft. Is there any information on this being implemented and/or can we push for visibility on it?

Thanks in advance!

The fact you still can't use a pattern, but can use a 4 digit pin is really really stupid. This needs to be allowable. Intune already screwed up the compliance check for passwords by not allowing "Device Default" as being able to work any longer. Do better...

Are there any plans to support lock patterns in Android? It seems completely arbitrary to not allow this.

I totally understand your frustration in dealing with this issue. But please understand currently it is not supported to Set/Deploy Pattern Unlock to the list of password options in Intune. Some end users have already post such request in Intune UserVoice, I think you can vote the following ticket to address this issue. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customer feedback. We strive to capture any negative reviews in order to ensure that we are continuously improving our products to meet our customers' needs. With your efforts, we are committed to improving our products. Here is the link:

This is a stock android authentication option and should be supported.
