Hello Community,
a customer of me with about 16 PCs on the domain network. an SBS is domain controller, DNS resolution works. PCs have fixed IP. Until a few weeks ago, everything was running normally. But suddenly, after a few Windows updates, the Broken Internet sign appeared on about half of the PCs, although Internet itself and the internal network. On some PCs, Outlook still works without problems, but I can't add new accounts because Outlook reports that there is no Internet connection. also DHCP assignment of the IP address does not bring any change. Using Regedit -ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesNlaSvcParametersInternet to set EnableActiveProbing = 1 does not help either. Even with netsh winsock reset I could not bring any improvement. USING DHSC I once took a PC with me to our own network. Everything then works without any problems. Does anyone here have an idea what else can be done? Reinstalling 10 PCs is not really an option...

Thanks in Advanced

ADiehm

    Hello @Alexander Diehm

This may be related to some cached information, drivers issue or even intermediary network hardware filtering. If the computers work in a different network without issues, you can discard a workstation related issue, however, a driver update would be convenient to ensure that is not related.

I would suggest to start looking into the SBS DC, in Event Viewer for specific Errors or Warnings related to DNS resolution or DHCP assignment. You can also use this on the workstations to gain a better understanding.

Additionally, you can test a new computer in this network: if the computer fails, it is a intermediate network issue (hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls) and if it works, it means that the issue is definitely on the SBS.

Hope this helps with your query,
