How can I enable the status bar in Windows Subsystem for Android?
I want to be able to see the status bar and access the notification panel on Android.
Hi @Kahan Bhalani , this sounds like an end-user question/feature request, which should be posted in the Feedback Hub app. Microsoft Q&A is for developers.
That said, accessing the status bar/notification panel isn't supported. Notifications are displayed in Action Center so that apps feel native and integrated on Windows.
As I am testing my Android apps on WSA, I wanted to have full control over the system.
I was thinking if these things could be enabled just for developers.

If you're using WSA to test your Android apps for Android devices and want to fully replicate an Android device (like notification tray/status bar, navigation bar, task switcher, etc), using WSA would not be the way to do that, and that's a scenario we're not going to support and design for. You should use the Android emulators included with Android Studio or Visual Studio which will provide an experience similar to actual Android devices.
Using WSA to test the rest of your Android app (like functionality within your app, how your app handles resizing, etc) is a good use case for using WSA as an Android app developer. I've personally been using WSA to much more easily test how my app would behave on Chromebook which similarly supports resizing, and easily test how my app looks at various screen sizes without having to launch multiple separate Android device emulators. But if I want to test how my app behaves with Android notifications or other Android integration features (like blending into color of navigation bar at the bottom), I spin up a traditional Android emulator.

I truly understand now the intent for which WSA was built. I wanted this feature because WSA performed better for me than the Android Emulator in Android Studio.

Ensure that you are running the latest version of Windows that supports WSA.If you haven't already, you need to install WSA on your Windows machine. You can do this by going to the Microsoft Store and searching for "Windows Subsystem for Android" and then installing the app.Open the WSA app from the Start menu or using the search function.Within the Windows Subsystem for Android app, look for the settings menu. This may be represented by a gear icon or three dots (ellipsis) and can usually be found in the top-right or bottom-right corner of the app window.In the settings menu, there should be an option to enable or show the idstatuscheck bar. Toggle this option to turn on the status bar.If required, save your settings changes and restart the Windows Subsystem for Android app for the changes to take effect.
