Remove an individual VM from Azure Monitor

We have some Azure VM's that have been incorrectly assigned into Azure Monitor.
I want to remove them.
Going into Monitor -> then Virtual MAchines - I can see these VM's listed under "Monitored VMs" - I would like to move them to "Not monitored"
I have so far removed the LA Workspace ID from the MMA inside the VM - that didn't work
Uninstalled the AzureMonitorWindowsAgent extension from the VM - that also didn't work.

I now have Azure Monitor (or Insights) enabled for these VM's but not sending any new data.
How can I remove these few VM's only from the list of VM's in Azure Monitor?

Thanks!

    Hi,
There are two ways that VM is connected to Log Analytics workspace - either via Microsoft Monitoring Agent or through Azure Monitor Agent. The latter is a replacement for the first, but both can function side by side. As long as both are removed your VM is no longer sending data to Log Analytics workspace. The existing data on the workspace for that VM will not be deleted though. It will stay there until it is purged by the retention process depending what retention is configured for the workspace or the tables where the data is. I would assume that in your case you see still some of the old data in Log Search or workbooks and you think that the VM is still connected.

Thanks. So if I remove the MMA and/or Azure Monitor Agent extension and wait for the purge period to run - these VM's will no longer appear in the list of Monitored VM's.
Do I also need to remove DependencyAgentWindows extension?
