The EFI system partition (ESP) is a small partition formatted in FAT32, usually 100 MB.
To boot Windows to a GPT disk, there must be an EFI system partition and a Microsoft Reserved Partition (MSR). If one deletes the EFI partition on the system disk by mistake, Windows will fail to boot. In this case, you need to create an EFI partition and then install the EFI executable files to make the hard drive bootable.
