Hi,

I have a customer who are still on Lync 2013 On Prem. They would like to migrate to Microsoft Teams in the near future. Can we migrate the user from Lync 2013 to Microsoft Teams? Or we must upgrade to Skype for Business 2015 before we moved the user to Teams Only mode.

The latest CU update for Lync 2013 sounds like we can migrate from Lync 2013 to Microsoft Teams as long as we have hybrid mode setup in our environment.

Appreciate feedback from the community.

    Hi @Anonymous

Can we migrate the user from Lync 2013 to Microsoft Teams?

Yes, you can. If you are using Lync Server 2013, you must first upgrade to Lync Server 2013 Cumulative Update 10 Hotfix 5 (KB 2809243) or later. You could see the server requirements from this part.

To complete your move from on-premises to the cloud and decommission your on-premises Skype for Business Server environment, you must complete the following steps in the following order:

Step 1. Move all required users from on-premises to online.

Step 2. Disable your hybrid configuration.

Step 3. Move hybrid application endpoints from on-premises to online.

Step 4. Remove your on-premises Skype for Business deployment.
