I thought maybe ProcDump would execute by itself so I downloaded it but it only quickly flashes some execution on a dos environment and then closes so quick I cannot see anything. So I then tried to run it by way of ProcExplorer as a minidump and it created a dump file in computer code and when I ran it, other than selecting the process there was nowhere else for selecting desired options.?
It's a command line program, not a GUI like procexp. Open a command prompt with "run as administrator" and run "procdump /?" to see the command line switches.

MotoX80 Do you have to provide a path etc and run Procdump.exe or is there something more convenient that allows you to just type in procdump/? ?
I create a folder C:\Utils and add that to the system path variable. I put all the utilities that I use that don't require an installation in that folder. That way I can CD in a command or Powershell prompt to any directory and just run those programs.
I am trying to find the cause for my occasional hung system. If the process causing the hang is not known, how do you go about setting up a dump toward resolving the issue?
That's a much different problem.
I would recommend starting with visiting your hardware vendor's web site and use whatever tools they provide to update the drivers on your pc to the most current versions. If they have a diagnostic utility to run hardware tests, then run that. They may also have provided a boot time option to run system diagnostics. Be sure to run a memory hardware test.
Then check for events in the Reliability Monitor.
Control Panel\System and Security\Security and Maintenance\Reliability Monitor
The system event log may also have events around the time of the hang.
To force a system dump, you would need to try this sequence.
Just run it inside a cmd window
If you don't pass parameters, it displays them, like in the doc ProcDump v10.11

If you want to use it for investigation purpose & you are not comfortable to use ProcDump , I would recommend you to use Process explorer which is GUI based tool & easy to use. You just need to right click on desired process & select Create a dump.
