Stack Edge Could not delete IoT role

Hi,

We have a StackEdge Pro 2: 256G6T2GPU, and would like to deploy a GPU VM.

After some learning/teething issues, I have been able to deploy a Non-GPU VM, but when I select a GPU VM I get: Your device doesn’t have capacity to create the specified VM. Select a smaller VM.

I suspect (based on this document) it is due to Kubernetes. I do not explicitly require Kubernetes, but it seems to be there, perhaps due to me deploying "Azure IoT Edge" services. I do not actually want any IoT functionality. I suspect Kubernetes, because I can see the StackEdge has some DHCP assigned IP addresses, called K8S-xxxxxxxxxxx

When I tried to remove the Azure IoT Edge service, it times out after 10 minutes with the following error:

Message: (Http status code: 400) Could not delete IoT role 'IotRole' on 'OEStackEdge2OptusOCS-01'. An error occurred with the error code {NO_PARAM}. For more information, refer to the error code details (http://aka.ms/dbe-error-codes). If the error persists, contact Microsoft Support.

Questions:

  1. Why does deleting that role/Edge service fail?
  2. Is "Azure IoT Edge" likely to be preventing me from using a GPU VM?
  3. Do I need "Azure IoT Edge" to create a Virtual Machine? Some docs seem to suggest I do.
  4. How can I remove Kubernetes?

Thanks, Brock

    Hi @srbhatta-MSFT ,

Our second StackEdge box arrived, so I temporarily gave up on the first, and started on the second.

The second has been going better. I am not onsite, and need to fix some connectivity problems, so I'm unable to progress until Monday, probably.

I will update early next week with additional news.

We are also investigating about migrating the boxes to a different subscription, that has support etc.

    Thanks, Brock

Today I plan to delete the entire Azure Stack Edge resource, and create again, from scratch. Hopefully that works.
