SCCM2111 best practice to disable/delete/retire application?

Dear experts,

I'm kind of lost when managing application deployment via SCCM. We are using 2111 version and here is a case for better understanding our scenario.

  1. We deployed Zoom 32 bit version using MDT in the first place, when the machines were originally OS installed;
  2. We then deployed Zoom 64 bit version 5.1 and newer version of 32 bit in SCCM for users to install in self-service way. This caused an issue that when user installed the new 64 bit, after entering their credentials zoom didn't launch;
  3. We don't want to keep two versions of Zoom so we deployed the newest Zoom 64 bit version and superseded the above two versions 32 and 64 bits we already deployed in SCCM, and disabled the deployment of above two versions. We used Available option for this new application.
  4. This caused a bad issue that all the existing Zoom in client machines were uninstalled automatically. We then deployed a new same latest version of 64 bit version and set it as Required. This installs Zoom for the client machines again but when new machines added into our device collection, even they installed Zoom via Software Center, a few hours later, Zoom is gone:(

I'm very concerned that what we can do to fix this issue, and what is the best practice to handle such scenario?
I'm also very lost when we can disable deployment in Application setting, when we can retire a deployed application and when we can even delete the deployed application? Thanks a lot!

D

    There are no best practices, only what works for you.
    What do you mean in #4 that zoom is gone? What do the log say? What is causing zoom the be removed?

    Hi, @Eaven HUANG

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

    It's recommended to check the detection method of your older version and newest version, make sure they are different.

    Dear All,

    I've contacted Microsoft Support regarding this and the final solution was to delete all the deployment and delete all the existing Zoom application, then use Package with Zoom clean .exe to clean all the existing Zoom on client PC, then deploy the newest version for them, as Required type.

    Thanks.
