SSMS Extensibility

i follow this page to write a Extensibility:

it works very good in Visual Studio 2017, when i debug it in Sql Server Management Studio v18.2 , it is not work.

but menu command Extensibility in SSMS is ok

please help me !

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. What do you mean it doesn’t work when you debug in SSMS? The walkthrough you shared shows how to trigger statement completion for the "plaintext" content type and it’s based on Editor and Language Services. It is for Visual Studio and "plaintext". Could you elaborate your question?

Yes, It is for VS, i want build an statement completion addin for ssms, how to modify it?

I try modify "plaintext" to "text"/"sql", however, it doesn't make any difference.

Hi @Kyle liu ,

I found this similar thread: SSMS 2016 Extensions. It’s an old thread and is for SSMS 2016, the thread points that the custom extension needs to be added to the allow list, otherwise SSMS may skip to load it. I’m not very familiar with the latest version of SSMS, perhaps you need to ask SSMS team about this question. I suggest you also add SSMS related tags.

In the end, I did not find a direct solution to this problem, but used a shortcut key to trigger my code.

I am also trying to create the statement completion (following the same tutorial https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/visualstudio/visual-studio-2017/extensibility/walkthrough-displaying-statement-completion?view=vs-2017&tabs=csharp) and I am having the same problem (it doesn't work on SSMS 18)

Could you please give me more detail on how you solve the problem?
