Exercise - Create a Shopify shop in Business Central
Because you've received more customer requests to connect their Shopify online stores with Business Central, you want to explore the Shopify connecter in Business Central. You've already prepared the following:
A Shopify online store, by getting the Shopify trial version or by joining the Shopify Partner Program.
A new CRONUS demo company with sample data in your Business Central environment.
Installation of the Shopify app in your Business Central environment.
These preparations mean that you're ready to set up a Shopify shop in Business Central that you'll connect to your Shopify online store. You decide to name your Shopify shop similar as your Shopify online store. Because your Business Central environment already contains business data, such as items and customers, you'll set up your shop to sync items, inventory, and customers to Shopify.
For now, you won't assign a customer price group because you decide to use the item unit prices as sales prices in Shopify. Also, you won't use discounts in Shopify.
Because several items in Business Central have images and attributes, you want to export them to Shopify.
None of the items that you plan to export to Shopify have variants, and you want to use the Business Central item number as the product name in Shopify.
Because you're setting up a test environment, inventory can go negative.
For customers, you want to start with a bulk export to Shopify. However, after you begin syncing Shopify orders, new customers should be created automatically in Business Central. Because most customers have an email or phone number, you want to map customers by using these fields. When the information of existing customers is changed, Shopify should be able to update customers in Business Central. For now, you've decided to use one of the existing customer templates for retail customers.
