Overview of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation in healthcare data solutions (preview)

[This article is prerelease documentation and is subject to change.]

Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) data has a complex, nested structure that makes it hard to segment patient population. To simplify this complexity, you can use the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation capability in healthcare data solutions (preview). This capability lets you connect Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data to your OneLake on Fabric. With this connection, you gain the capability to effortlessly create patient or member lists for outreach purposes. The capability also flattens some FHIR resources, so you can access them easily and enable efficient patient segmentation for outreach initiatives. You don't have to worry about data compatibility or transforming heavily nested FHIR data for patient segmentation.

With this capability, you can:

  • Streamline patient segmentation: Identify and group patients based on specific criteria.
  • Improve your outreach strategies: Create tailored communication plans for different patient segments.
  • Understand your patient demographics better: Get insights into patient characteristics and behaviors for personalized care delivery.
  • Grow your revenue faster: Reach out to targeted segments more effectively, expand your patient base, and increase your business growth and profitability.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation is an optional capability under healthcare data solutions in Microsoft Fabric (preview). You have the flexibility to decide whether or not to use it, depending on your specific needs or scenarios.

Data capabilities

The preview release of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data preparation concentrates on mapping FHIR resources to tables that Customer Insights – Data can ingest. We selected the following set of tables based on popular marketing journeys among healthcare organizations. Your organization might use some resources that aren't supported in this release.

The connections between the tables demonstrate various relationships that could be established between resources.

Note

The relationships between the FHIR tables shown in the following diagram are suggested based on a sample implementation. You might have different implementations where some of these relationships don't apply. Make sure that you create these new relationships in the Customer Insights - Data instance.

You don't have to use all of these relationships to set up the capability. Only create the relationships that will help your segmentation process.
