Run Diagnostic Tests and Reports
HPC Cluster Manager provides a central place for you to run diagnostic tests and reports on the cluster. In Diagnostics, you can run the built-in tests and additional tests that you have imported.
Some diagnostic tests have configurable parameters. For example, you can specify the Running Mode (ring, serial, or tournament) for the MPI Ping-Pong tests or the target service for the SOA Service Loading Test. For more information, see Understanding Diagnostic Tests.
There are several ways to run diagnostic tests (see Additional considerations). The following procedure describes how to run tests from the Node Management view.
To run diagnostic tests
In Node Management, in the Navigation Pane, click Nodes.
In List or Heat Map view, select one or more nodes.
Right-click your selection, then click Run Diagnostics.
In the Run Diagnostic Tests dialog box:
In Tests to run, select one or more tests.
Nodes to test reflects the selection that you made in the node list or heat map.
Optionally, click Configure Test Parameters to specify test parameters, if applicable.
Click Run.
If this is the first time that you are running a diagnostic test or if you have cleared the diagnostic test credentials, the Connect to diagnostic service dialog box opens. Type the domain credentials that you want to use for running diagnostic tests, and then click OK.
Important
The domain credentials that you specify for running diagnostic tests must be for a user that has already been added to the cluster as an Administrator. For more information, see Managing Cluster Users.
The domain credentials that you specify for running diagnostic tests are stored automatically. At any time, you can clear the diagnostic test credentials that have been stored. For more information, see Clear the Diagnostic Test Credentials.
To view test results: In Diagnostics, in the Navigation Pane, click Test Results. The diagnostic tests that have run or are running appear in the views pane. For more information, see Reviewing Test Results. For more information, see Reviewing Test Results.
Additional considerations
After you have configured your head node you can run diagnostics to Validate your Environment Before Deploying Nodes.
To run a specific set of diagnostics tests on one or more nodes, you can run tests from Diagnostics. In the Navigation Pane, click Tests, select one or more tests in the views pane, right-click your selection, and then click Run. In the Run Diagnostics dialog box, you can select a specific set of nodes to test.
To verify that a particular service can be loaded, you can run the SOA Service Loading Test in Configuration, in Managing SOA Services in Microsoft HPC Pack. The service that you select is automatically specified as the parameter for the test.
