How to Create Application Pools

This topic provides steps for creating application pools in Internet Information Services (IIS) for the Web applications. You must create one application pool for each Web site on the production Web server, and for each Web service that is unpacked onto the business management server.

To create an application pool

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  2. On Windows Server 2003, in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand <computername>, right-click Application Pools, point to New, and then click Application Pool

    - or -

  3. On Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, in IIS Manager, expand <computername>, right-click Application Pools, and then click Add Application Pool.

  4. On Windows Server 2003, in the Add New Application Pool dialog box, in the Application pool ID box, type the name of the Web site application pool (for example, <SiteName>AppPool), and then click OK.

    On Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, in the Add Application Pool dialog box, in the Name box, type the name of the Web site application pool, for example, <SiteName>AppPool, in the .NET Framework version box, select .NET Framework v2.0.50727 from the drop-down list, in the Managed pipeline mode box, select Integrated from the drop-down list.

  5. Repeat these steps for each Web application pool that you need to create.
