Hi, I'm Henry! I will help you with this.
In Windows 11, the Active Signal Mode is determined by the display output rather than the resolution setting. If your old monitor supports only 1024x768, but Windows keeps the signal mode at 1920x1080, it may be due to how the graphics driver handles scaling.
- Change Resolution via Display Settings
- Open Settings → System → Display
- Scroll down and select Advanced display settings
- Click Display adapter properties for your monitor
- Under the Monitor tab, select a supported resolution and apply changes
- Force Resolution via Graphics Control Panel
- If you're using Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA, open their respective control panels
- Look for Custom Resolution settings and manually set 1024x768
- Check Scaling Options
- In Advanced display settings, check if scaling is enabled
- Try setting scaling to 100% to prevent Windows from forcing a higher signal mode
- Update Graphics Drivers
- Open Device Manager → Display adapters
- Right-click your GPU and select Update driver
