Setup Exchange 365 email in Microsoft Outlook 2016

Hello everyone,

it does all work perfectly with current versions of Outlook, but with older Outlook 2016 my Exchange 365 server bought directly from Microsoft does not install automatically. And for a manual install my knowledge is not large enough. Do you have any idea what I need to do exactly?

Thanks

Matthias

    Hi Matthias,

Please follow these steps to know your Exchange Server address :

Go to Control Panel to get the Microsoft Exchange Server. Search for ‘Mail’ in the Control Panel, open the Mail Setup window, click ‘Email Accounts’, and select the email account. The Microsoft Exchange Server name will be in the ‘Server Information’ section.

    Alternatively, Using PowerShell Commands

    1. Open PowerShell
    2. Connect to Exchange Server: Use the command "Connect-ExchangeServer -Identity 'ServerName'".
    3. Get Exchange Server Info: Execute "Get-ExchangeServer" for details.
    4. Check Exchange Server Roles: Use "Get-ExchangeServer -Identity 'ServerName' | fl Name, Edition, AdminDisplayVersion, Roles".
    5. Find Database Availability Groups (DAGs): Execute "Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup" for info about DAGs.
    6. Verify Public Folder Replication: Use "Get-PublicFolderDatabase" to check if replication is enabled.

I hope this information helps you and I would be more than happy to answer any other questions should you have them.

    Warm Regards, Utkarsh

Hi Utkarsh, thank you so much. I have found this rather general instruction as well on the web.

Where i am struggling: "Your server adresss... and "your IT administrator will have this information".

I am my IT administrator, and do not have this information. On the microsoft admin 365 console as well as the exchange admin console, both from microsoft, there is no information to be found on this.

As said, quite dissapointed that microsoft solutions dont work together here. I know this gets solved on later versions of outlook, but for 2016 it does not work.

Thank you again, would be great if you could help.

    best

    Matthias
