GhostSessions Remotedesktop Services

Question

Hallo zusammen,

wir haben seit letzter Woche das Problem, dass auf einigen Servern GhostSessions entstehen (manchmal mit 4 Prozessen, manchmal mit 5 Prozessen). Es verhält sich bei uns genau wie hier beschrieben: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1299928/remote-desktop-server-ghost-sessions-(4)

In unserer Umgebung tritt das Problem auf Server 2012 R2, 2016 und 2019 auf.

Woran liegt das? Wie kann man das Problem lösen, ohne jedes Mal manuell eingreifen zu müssen?

Ist das ein bekanntes Problem? Wird es dazu einen Patch geben?

Hello,

This seems to be a reported problem. Based on my research, no update has been rolled out for this issue. You can first try the following steps to resolve this problem:

1. Make sure Windows Server has all the latest updates.
2. According to Users' statement, these "ghost" sessions are random, disconnected sessions. You can configure session time limits to ensure that idle or disconnected sessions are automatically terminated. The operation is as follows:

• Run 'gpedit.msc' to open the local Group Policy editor.
• Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Session Time Limits.
• Set the appropriate policy for Set time limits for disconnected sessions.

In addition, you can review the event log as the issue occurs, specifically the Event Viewer log under Microsoft > Windows > Application and Services Log > TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager. Events for these particular sessions can be recorded here. Please enable the options below before viewing.

Ja, es gibt Einträge für die Ghost-Sessions. Und zwar diese hier:

Ich habe das Session-Timeout getestet. Leider werden die Sitzungen trotzdem nicht richtig geschlossen. Es sind nur keine Prozesse mehr vorhanden:

Ich habe es jetzt einige Zeit getestet. Offenbar lag es auch bei uns an dem Drucker, der über eine GPO direkt verteilt wird! Seitdem wir die Druckerinstallation über unsere Softwareverteilung machen und die Session-Timeouts gesetzt sind, sind keine Ghost Sessions mehr aufgetreten.

Warum diese Ghost Sessions mittendrin auf einmal auftraten, ist mir immer noch ein Rätsel.
