TFS Admin & Ops: What's in a MOM pack?

Where did I go for the month of June? Bad blogger!

A recent forum post asked about the availability of a MOM pack for TFS. We’ve been planning to include this in a future release (there isn’t one for v1).

I’ve been brainstorming a bit on what kinds of metrics and actions we should include. Even the most basic one – availability – isn’t necessarily straightforward to track. Sure, the major component services are up or down; but if Version Control checkins are taking an hour or more, would you still consider it “up”?

Similarly, if the warehouse hasn’t processed in more than (say) 24 hours, that’s probably worth an admin’s attention, as well.

What kinds of metrics/tracking/operations would you like to see in a MOM pack for Team Foundation Server?

You can't take the sky from me...

    Here some feature requests:

    - Too many builds running on the build server concurrently (and cloaking the CPU)
    - Reports throwing errors
    - Many bad (malformed) requests to any of the services
    - Misconfigurations or misbehavings (bad process templates, bad check-in policies)
    - Cluttered file drops for the build server
    - ....

Thanks for the requests - we'll make sure we incorporate these into our planning.
