Plan and prepare for AI Builder in 2024 release wave 1

Important

The 2024 release wave 1 plan covers new features that Microsoft plans to release from April 2024 to September 2024. For AI Builder, see the product overview and the new and planned features.

Overview

AI Builder is a low-code AI platform that you can use to customize the latest AI models from Azure AI. With AI Builder, you can build more intelligent business solutions. You get access to all the latest Azure AI capabilities—including GPT and document intelligence—in a form that's easy for citizen developers to use. AI Builder follows responsible AI principles and includes enterprise-grade governance and security. The core capabilities of AI Builder include:

  • GPT models and prompts: Build, test, and deploy GPT prompts to get extensive value from the latest generative AI capabilities in Azure's OpenAI service.
  • Pre-trained AI models: Pre-trained AI models that you can use right away to perform specific scenarios like invoice processing, sentiment analysis, text translation, and optical character recognition.
  • Customizable AI Models: Create AI models that fit your specific business needs. Key model-building capabilities include intelligent document processing, email classification, object detection, and prediction scenarios.
  • Governance and Security: Manage who can access AI technology and monitor AI usage in your organization.

Investment areas

Investment areas

AI governance and administration
Governance and administration cover the key sets of themes that allow admins to deploy and monitor AI activities:

  • Capacity management
  • Usage monitoring
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Access control
  • Sharing and deploying AI models and prompts

Extend copilot capabilities with AI
Copilot makes business users more productive and satisfied at work. To revolutionize the workplace, Copilot operates in the specific context of each enterprise.

You can author topics using natural language to describe what you want your topic to do. Copilot includes conversational responses, which you can use as a starting point for further development. For example, you can add Dataverse data records to your GPT prompts, so users can get insights. You can interact with documents directly from copilot tools, which gives you the ability to quickly extract key learning points from documents. Copilot also generates new document templates to enhance productivity.

Intelligent document and email processing
Documents can be structured, like invoices, or unstructured, like resumes. Automating data extraction from documents can speed up tedious manual processes and reduce the risk of errors. With AI Builder, an AI model extracts content through a controlled process where you specify which fields to capture. You refine the system with feedback and human review for quality assurance.

As AI capabilities advance, customizing an AI model to understand specific documents becomes easier. AI Builder simplifies setting up intelligent document processing pipelines by providing the best and latest document processing models from Azure AI. It also reduces the need for model training by using generative AI capabilities.

Prompt builder
Prompt builder is AI Builder's new interface that you use to build, test, and deploy generative AI prompts for large language models. Prompts are instructions that you send to generative AI models to accomplish a task. Use prompts for a wide range of scenarios, like content generation, content classification, insight generation, or information extraction.

When you create a prompt, use it across multiple Power Platform products to bring generative AI capabilities to every business solution you build. Use the prompt with a copilot, an app, a flow, or a Microsoft Dataverse table. Prompts are also solution-aware components that Power Fx expressions trigger. With this approach, you can reuse and deploy prompts across your different low-code components.
