Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 Service Policy
This article describes the servicing policy for Microsoft HPC Pack 2019, and what you must do to keep your system in a supported state.
Lifecycle Policy
Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 follows Microsoft's Modern Lifecycle Policy.
Release Types
Microsoft is responsible for the end-to-end servicing lifecycle for the Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 software release and update packages, which can be downloaded directly from Microsoft. We recommend Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 users set maintenance windows when installing releases. Releases update your Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 installation's version.
There are two types of Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 releases: update and hotfix.
Update: These packages include the latest Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 features and functionality, security updates and bug fixes. Although we attempt to minimize any breaking changes between updates, we do not guarantee backwards compatibility between update releases. We will make efforts to call out any relevant warnings or details for upgrading.
Hotfix: Occasionally, Microsoft provides Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 hotfixes that address a specific issue or issues that are often preventative or time-sensitive. A separate hotfix may be provided for each supported version of Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 as appropriate. Each fix for a specific iteration is cumulative and includes the previous updates for that same version.
Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 Release Cadence
Microsoft expects to release Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 updates on a yearly cadence. However, it's possible to have multiple, or no update releases in a year.
Supported Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 Versions
To continue to receive support, you must keep your Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 deployment current to either the previous or latest update releases.
If your Microsoft HPC Pack 2019 installation is behind by more than two update releases, it's considered out of compliance and must be updated to at least the minimum supported version.
For example, if the previous and current update releases are versions 6.1 and 6.2, and the three most recent update versions are:
Version 6.1: 6.1.3, 6.1.2, 6.1.1
Version 6.2: 6.2.3, 6.2.2, 6.2.1
In this example, all versions listed above would be supported, but 6.0.x - and all prior versions - would be out of support. Additionally, when version 6.3.x is released, version 6.1 would transition to legacy/unsupported.
