How to: Update Opportunities

You can update opportunities, for example, to modify your evaluation of their chances of success and estimated values.

You can update opportunities from the Opportunity List window. Depending on from where you access the Opportunity List window, the window shows opportunities for contacts, campaigns, or salespeople. The following procedure shows how to update opportunities from the Salesperson/Purchaser Card.

To update an opportunity

  1. In the Search box, enter Salespeople, and then choose the related link..

  2. Select the salesperson responsible for the opportunity.

  3. On the Navigate tab, in the Salesperson group, choose Opportunities, and then choose List.

  4. On the Opportunity List window, on the Actions tab, in the Functions group, chose Update. The Update Opportunity wizard opens.

  5. In the first window of the wizard, select the option Update, and choose the Next button.

  6. Fill in the other windows of the wizard to specify new information about the opportunity, for example, to reestimate the value of the opportunity.

    The Date, Estimated Value (LCY), Chance of Success (%), and Estimated Closing Date fields are required and must be filled in before you choose the Next or Finish button.

  7. After you have entered all the necessary information, choose the Finish button.
