Select a Template Input File
For this procedure, in Management Agent Designer, on the Select Template Input File page, you select a template input file. The template input file that you use to create a text file management agent is typically the same as a custom data input file. Management Agent Designer parses the template input file to determine the format type, attributes, and object classes (if any) to create the management agent. A custom data input file contains all of the actual data you want to synchronize with the metadirectory. The custom data input file is generated by an .exe, command, or script from your connected data source. The actual contents of the template input file are not synchronized with the metadirectory unless you specify the same file as the custom data input file when you create a run profile. You can see this page only when you create a new management agent with Management Agent Designer. To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the FIMSyncAdmins security group.
To select a template input file
In Management Agent Designer, on the Select Template Input File page, click Browse, and then select the template input file that you want to use.
In Code page, click the code page format of the template input file.
For only the management agent for extensible connectivity, in File format, select the template input file type.
Important
The template input file must be in the same format as the custom data input file that you plan to use with the management agent.
Important
For template input files larger than 200 kilobytes, only the first 100 objects are read by Management Agent Designer. It might be necessary to manually add additional object classes and attributes if they do not appear in the first 100 objects.
Note
Make sure that the template input file contains all of the object types and attributes that you want to synchronize.
Note
If you are uncertain of the code page format of the template input file, click Western European (Windows) 1252.
Note
Management Agent Designer contains a Delimited Text Format page for the management agent for delimited text files and a Confirm Fixed-Width Text Format page for the management agent for fixed-width text files. On these pages, you can verify text file content and change the text layout. You can verify and change other text file formats on the Configure Attributes page in Management Agent Designer.
