Installing or Removing a Language Pack
Microsoft Speech Server 2004 (MSS) provides English (U.S.) as the default language for development and deployment. To support speech applications in another language, you must install the appropriate language pack. The following language packs are available:
- French (Canada)
- Spanish (United States)
Installing a Language Pack
A language pack enables you to develop MSS applications in another language. After you install a language pack, you can use Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 to select the language engine and make modifications to the phonemes, enabling speech recognition and text-to-speech emulation/simulation with the new language's model and voices.
You must install the language pack on each computer in your MSS implementation. The language pack Setup Wizard detects which services are running on the computer, displays a list of the language support files that will be installed, and then installs the files. Depending on your MSS configuration, the Setup Wizard may install any of the following files on each computer:
- Speech recognition and text-to-speech engine resources
- Language support files for Speech Server
- Language support files for the SASDK Tools
- Language-specific documentation for the SASDK
- Language support files for the ASP.NET speech controls
