IDot11ExtUIProperty::GetDot11ExtUIPropertyFriendlyName method
Important The Native 802.11 Wireless LAN interface is deprecated in Windows 10 and later. Please use the WLAN Device Driver Interface (WDI) instead. For more information about WDI, see WLAN Universal Windows driver model.
The IDot11ExtUIProperty::GetDot11ExtUIPropertyFriendlyName method allows the Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL to return a friendly name for the property extension. The operating system displays this name within the property extensions added to the Connection or Security tabs of the Native 802.11 Network Configuration UI.
Syntax
HRESULT GetDot11ExtUIPropertyFriendlyName(
[out] BSTR* bstrPropertyName
);
Parameters
- bstrPropertyName [out]
A pointer to a string buffer allocated by the Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL. This string buffer contains the friendly name for the property extension.
Return value
If the call succeeds, the method returns S_OK.
If the call fails, the method returns the appropriate error code defined in Winerror.h.
Remarks
Before the Native 802.11 Network Configuration UI displays a connectivity or security property, the operating system calls the IDot11ExtUI::GetDot11ExtUIProperties method to return a list of custom property extensions developed by the independent hardware vendor (IHV). For each property extension, the operating system calls the extension's IDot11ExtUIProperty::GetDot11ExtUIPropertyFriendlyName method to return the friendly name for the extension.
