Regulations available to use during the trial

When you start your one-time trial for premium assessments, you can use 25 premium regulatory templates of your choice for free for 90 days. You can create as many assessments from the 25 regulations as you wish. View the full list of Compliance Manager regulations.

After starting your trial, go to your Assessments tab in Compliance Manager and view the Purchased regulation licenses used counter to see how many regulations are available and are in use. This counter shows your 25 licensed regulatory templates. As you create assessments for these regulations, your activated number updates. Multiple assessments based on the same regulation count as one regulatory template use. For more information, see Learn about regulations in Compliance Manager.

Roles for starting the trial

A user with one of the roles listed below can start or end a trial:

  • Billing Administrator
  • Compliance Administrator
  • Compliance Data Administrator
  • Global Administrator

Important

Microsoft recommends that you use roles with the fewest permissions. Minimizing the number of users with the Global Administrator role helps improve security for your organization. Learn more about Microsoft Purview roles and permissions.

During your trial

Throughout your trial, you can review the Trial summary section of the Overview page in Compliance Manager to see how many assessments you created, the number of improvement actions taken, how your compliance score has changed, and how much time remains in your trial. From here, you can also review the list of available regulations and learn more about purchasing them for ongoing use.

After the trial

After your trial ends, the regulatory templates you used won't receive automatic updates and might fall out of date with any regulatory changes. We recommend that you delete assessments built from regulatory templates that you don’t intend to purchase.

Ending the trial

Admins can disable the trial anytime by selecting End trial on the Compliance assessments trial card on the Microsoft Purview trials and recommendations page in the Microsoft Purview portal.
