How to Set App Service - Custom Domain for Private Endpoint's Domain (e.g. privatelink.azurewebsites.net)

Hi,

As you know if your custom domain doesn't exists on the listed custom domains of web app service your app won't respond and returns 404 (as shown in the below SS).

I wonder, if there is any way to add a custom domain from Private DNS Zone without having DNS resolver or any other service. Also, private link works if I map the VNet ip address to one of the domains listed under custom domains but not for any Private Zone ones.

One note: NsLookup result returns the public ip address (20.x.x.x) of the web app service.

    Hi, thank you for your question at Q&A. I understand that you are running into issues connecting a custom domain to an App Service using a Private Endpoint. There is some documentation on this scenario here.

    In short: you should use the regular procedure for validating the domain via internet DNS and then make sure you have A-records in the DNS solution tied to the VNET/private network.
